EVE-Online

posted in in English please !, news |

Hi !

I’ve been tricked into trying EVE-Online last week, and … Damn ! I can’t stop playing ! This game has most of the things I would like in a game, and not too many flaws.

Eve-Online

Things I like :
– many career choices are possible (fighter, merchant, miner, engineer, etc.)
– futuristic environment
– progressive tutorial, and noob-friendly community
– very active community
– multiplayer interaction is great (nothing to do with some WoW-like stuff)
– I don’t have to play everyday, i can go with my own rythm
– I can also work in the same time, and perhaps do some transportation that doesn’t require my attention
– if I have time, I can actually do stuff, like missions or whatever I feel like
– there is much more than 2 sides :) which allows diplomacy, alliances, wars, fight for resources, etc.
– there is a nice 3D environment, although I would have like the game even without a nice GUI
– there is 14 free trial days
– some tools can help you manage your character

Things I dislike:
– there could be a queue for the skills to be learnt
– the clients for Windows, Mac and Linux need some bug fixes, the worst being the one for Mac.
– it’s not cheap

I advise you try it for yourself :)
The only problem is that now I just want to play …

Still playing, still definitely worth playing :) I spent a lot of hours on it, and I still want to go on …
I also want to emphasize the role of the other players, since that’s what matters in a MMORPG. In quite a few of them (WoW, etc.) there are a lot of say … younger players who have plenty time to play but have very bad mentality (kinda normal at their age) ; in EVE not that many can be found, and it’s probably what makes the difference.
