Since we had a friend visiting us, we decided to take the boat once more and show him Tallin, capital of Estonia. I already talked about this city earlier, so this time I’ll only publish a few pictures of the Old City, so that you have an idea of typical streets, main buildings, etc.

As we were visiting Paris over the National Day (14th of July) and the following day, we took a lot of pictures … I selected a few for you.

What to say about Paris that hasn’t been said before ? well, not much. I’ll pretty much confirm what people usually feel there :
– people are not too friendly (and most of them don’t speak English);
– city is expensive (but not more than Helsinki, for example, and even in the center you can find good deals);
– metro is complicated, not comfortable, and packed up (I guess it depends when you use it, but I have to admit that at least you never wait too long for it to come);
– beautiful city to visit ! but I hope I won’t ever have to live there …
– food, wine and service are very good, when you find the right places (our first try wasn’t too good though), and there is a very wide selection of restaurant types (I mean, from typical Chinese or Italian to Caribbean or Lebanese, etc.)

Various notes :
– in the first photo, the restaurant was nice and not pricey, but service wasn’t good, as the waiter probably was a beginner.
– in picture 4499, I wanted to show the poor small McDonald building (nicely decorated though) in that avenue.
– Did you now that the Eiffel tower was the most photographed building in the world ?
– Notre-Dame de Paris is so huge, I had to take it in several pictures (but I published only 3)
– I was so happy to get real baguette sandwiches ! it is soooo good !!!

Wow, it lasted from 6pm to 10am … we were only 5 people, but that was cool :) too bad one of our friends couldn’t make it …

Europa-Park is an amusement park in Germany, close to the French border, in Rust, basically half way between Freiburg and Strasbourg. I’ve been there only few times but I always have quite a ball. That’s why I thought I’d put a post about it. Entry fees are 30€ per adult, and cheaper for juniors and seniors. I think this is quite reasonable, since it gives access to all the attractions for a day. On the other hand, you can’t bring your own food, but I guess it’s the same in every amusement park.

… and I’ve sorted my photos. It took a while, also because I have guests coming over, and I have a day time job :)

After the trip to Savonlinna and Valamo, we went to France see my family near the Alps, especially for my sister’s wedding. Then we spent few days in Alsace where part of my family lives, and even went to Europa-Park in Germany, and finally to Paris (my brother was marching down the Champs-Elysees for the national day, July the 14th).

Food and wine were of course excellent in France, and we ate so much it will take ages to recover :)

Altogether, 3 weeks and a lot of memories and souvenirs; you can expect a few posts, very soon.
